In the Bleak Midwinter

Here is the link to my entry:

It is the Christmas carol “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Christina Rossetti and Gustav Holst. I used sleigh bells and a music box from Spitfire LABS and Micro Mercury boys’ choir. The rest of the instruments, horn, cello, string section, and percussion are from Garritan Personal Orchestra. I am singing it.

This is very sweet. Some reverb on the vocal would help and some sort of contrapuntal parts in the orchestra would add interest, especially since you have nicely changed up the instrumentation. The counterpoint would take away from the boxy sound.

Interesting. It has a sound like “played live”. Was it sequenced in a DAW? or mixed in audio clips?
Thanks for sharing this intimate offering. Enjoy these days.

Thank you. I made it (except the part I sang) using Ableton Live Intro. After exporting the track, I opened it in Audacity, made the volume louder (tracks made in Ableton seem to be soft) then recorded me singing it listening to it with headphones so I wouldn’t pick up the music on the microphone, then exported it with the two parts together.
