Watermarking your music and giving it to use for free

Do you watermark the music you put online?
I’ve read many tips about how to get more exposure for your tracks and most places say ”Always watermark the tracks you upload to youtube/soundcloud/wherever”

Is this a thing of the past because the content id services, adrev, identifyy, or for some other reason?

I kind of dislike uploading watermarked music but have always done it because of the tips.

I’ve also noticed some composers giving out their royalty free music to use for free, but monetizing the videos where the music is used. Do you think you get more income like this compared to just selling licenses? Or is there a drop in sales straight away when you give it for free? I guess serious tubers will buy the license anyway because the monetization from their videos is worth more to them than not to pay the license.
