How to copy from one midi track to another midi track in logic pro x

Hi I am not sure of the properly way to copy just a part of the midi notes from one midi track to another

I try to copy and paste this did not work confuse

Hello Brian,
When I copy parts or notes I simply first select then hold down ‘option’ key and then click and drag, which creates a new copy where I then place it.
