Does "HOW" the music is made really matter?

When composing, if you have two people, and one person composes “from scratch”…midi notes, plug ins, chords, melodies, etc, etc., and the other person is using royalty free loops and samples, does that really matter? Shouldn’t what really matter is the finished product? I’m asking because I do both. What say you?

I would say yes the finished result is most important. Although it might be tougher to get exactly the result you want with loops because you might not control as many parameters as when you do it from scratch.

That I can agree with. With audio loops, and samples, they are set to their bpm, so that does make it harder to manipulate. MIDI loops are easier to deal with, but if you’re using stock instruments, with MIDI, it can sound awful sometimes.
