Hi,
First post here, so hope I have this in the right category. My background has been a mix of working for exclusive libraries and doing bespoke composition for virtual reality experiences/games etc. I have recently been writing a non exclusive catalogue which is out with a couple of N/E libraries currently.
I am looking for advice on registering these tracks with my PRO to cover any potential broadcast uses etc. (So far I have not had to do this coming from a background of working with exclusive libraries). My question is specifically around the following:
If registering tracks with my PRO for one non exclusive library, do I need to then register these with the PRO each time I place them with a new library? Do they also require slightly different titles (or new titles) if doing so, so that I can track any potential backend royalties to understand which library the uses came from?
I know there is a lot of debate surrounding whether to do this or not in the N/E route, but it’s more the technicalities of registering I am looking for advice on, or any pitfalls I need to be aware of in creating complications when potentially registering the tracks.
Many thanks in advance for any advice, particularly those who have first hand experience. Any help/advice is much appreciated.
Thanks again.
